Pick a Part Renaissance Dances
Pick a Part
New repertoire for flexible string ensembles from Flying Strings! Perfect for group lessons and junior ensembles.
Flying Strings’ Pick-A-Part scores have been arranged by Audrey Akerman to create flexible options for young string ensembles. Pick-A-Part repertoire can be assigned to any combination of Violin, Viola, Cello and Double Bass to support duets, trios, quartets, quintets or ensembles. Each score contains four parts for each instrument and the melody may be played by any instrument or string section. Each Pick-A-Part score also contains a teacher’s piano accompaniment as well as a simpler student accompaniment to encourage collaborative student learning. All parts are colour-coded and are designed to make string ensemble playing engaging and enjoyable for young musicians and to create flexible options for teachers and conductors.
Renaissance Dances
These dances can be performed individually or in selected medleys. All pieces are in the related keys of G major or e minor, allowing them to be played consecutively in any order without a break.
Use the nal note of one piece as the counting in note of the next piece to play a continuous medley.
Add an authentic renaissance avour by using a small drum or tabour to point the rhythm.
The melody is approximately preliminary or Grade 1 standard. Harmony 1 is a similar standard or slightly more di cult. Harmony 2 is a similar or slightly easier standard.
Harmony 3 is mostly open strings, suitable for beginners. Notes in brackets in the melody lines of the teacher’s score are for the lower pitched instruments.
