Listening to Arvo Pärt's newest composition, Litany, is like walking alone in a vast, empty space. A deserted monastery, perhaps. History and stillness hang thick as incense in the air. Light from arched windows patterns the floor. Columns soar heavenward. These images are all in the imagination.
